Floral Story: Cinematic Romance

TWM is ever inspired by some of our favorite pieces of epic cinema, set deep in the South. We love Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, MGM’s Meet Me in St. Louis, and Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

And how can we not be inspired by these clasics?

The display of old fortune, washed in Technicolor, makes all of our senses come to life. In these films floral arrangements are dashed throughout, a subtle backdrop to the extravagant lives the characters live. The designs are bursting with subtle pinks, mauve purples, cheery peaches, and washed yellows. The staircases are grand and adorned in swagged garlands of cut branches, brought in from the farm outside. And, the women’s dresses are like blooms as they dance, gliding with their Clark Gables and Paul Newmans. Oh how dreamy!

This floral story was published under the name "Locale in Bloom" in Brides of Oklahoma's 10th anniversary edition.
